Laura Velasquez Super Hot Weather Girl (AccuWeather)

from AccuWeather: Laura discusses snowfall totals for the Great Plains and a recap of the ice storm in the central plains this weekend.

Apparently, calling a female meteorologist a "weather girl" is offensive to some. How do I know this? Larua Velasquez confirms this in an article written by Michael Boren.

Don't believe me? Follow the above link and read it.

Ms. Velasquez says, "In the vast majority of circumstances, there is nothing negative meant by it, but with that being said, you don't hear 'the weather boy' very often."

Well.

Michael Boren currently writes for The Philadelphia Inquirer.

Laura Velasquez Hot Midwest Weather Girl (WOOD-TV)

from WOOD-TV 8 in Michigan: Laura Velasquez. (AMS Certified Broadcast Meteorologist Seal of Approval)I don't know what any of that means.

Why do we have a feature called Hot Weather Girl on VlogHog? The same reason that program directors hire them: viewers.

These meteorologists are highly educated, work long hours, and are passionate about their work. No doubt they deserve their positions.

How many people were interviewed for the WOOD-TV weather position before Ms. Velasquez was hired? The competition is tough for the very few weather broadcaster slots available in any local market. For comparison sake, anybody can blog. Anybody. No college degrees necessary.

That being said, looks are a variable in the hiring process. It's not the only one but it is one.

Whenever I post a Hot Weather Girl post, the hits to my blog go up. Always. No matter who it is.

Laura Velasquez Hot Weather Girl (WOOD-TV)

From WOOD TV 8 NBC: Video of Storm Team 8's Laura Velasquez looks at Monday and beyond.

Seriously, the station's name is WOOD-TV. I couldn't make that up.

According to WOOD-TV(really that is the name, go look up it), Velasquez graduated magna cum laude from Central Michigan in 2008.

She's beautiful, smart and works at a job where the median salary is over $100,000. No doubt when she goes to her high school reunion that she will be most hated on.  The curse of the successful.

Sadly, I have no such fears of that ever happening to me.
